No. 315, 1903.—Petition of Nepia Matenga and 5 Others. Petitioners pray that a sum of money be granted to improve the road to the Ohaki Pa, where some valuable hot springs are situated, and also that a Court may sit at Taupo to partition the Tahorakura Block in order that the Ohaki portion'may be awarded to the rightful owners. I am directed to report that the Committtee recommends that this petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 18th August, 1903.

No. 195, 1903.—Petition of Hemi te O and 17 Others. Petitioners pray that a piece of land called Te Hurepo (near Oporiao, inland of Whakatane), which was confiscated as a result of fighting near Whakatane, may be returned to them. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition be referred to the Government for inquiry. 18th August, 1903.

No. 194, 1903.—Petition of Te Rupe Horotiu. Petitioner prays that sufficient land may be granted for support of his hapu, the present holdings being insufficient. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry. 18th August, 1903.

No. 54, 1903.—Petition of Tiemi Hipi, of Bluff. Petitioner protests, on behalf of the people of the South Island, against the gazetting of Mahuta as King of the Maoris. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make with regard to this petition. 18th August, 1903. [Note. —This report was not ordered to lie on the Table.]

No. 120, 1903.—Petition of P. R. Colebrook, and 50 Others, of Te Kuiti. Petitioners pray that sections in Te Kuiti Township may be sold with freehold tenure or under some system equivalent to the occupation with right of purchase under " The Land Act, 1892." I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that the prayer of this petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 18th August, 1903.
