[Gazette of 1878, page 848.] Reservation of Land for the purpose of granting it to the Corporation of the Borough of Oamaru.
Normanby, Governor. ORDER IN COUNCIL. At the Government House, at Wellington, this eleventh day of May, 1878. Present: His Excellency the Governor in Council. In pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the three hundred and fiftieth section of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and upon the request of the Borough of Oamaru, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby order that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be, and the same is hereby reserved out of the waste lands of the Provincial District of Otago, for the purpose of granting the same to the Corporation of the Borough of Oamaru.
SCHEDULE. All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, containing by admeasurement one thousand seven hundred and seventy-one (1,771) acres and two (2) roods, more or less, situate in the Maerewhenua District, being part of Section numbered three (3), Block eleven (XL), on the map of the said district. Bounded as follows : Commencing at a point fourteen thousand seven hundred and eighty (14780) links due south from Geodesical Station, Black Hill ; thence towards the East by Hospital Reserve, being a continuation of the aforesaid north and south line from Black Hill Greodesical Station, sixteen thousand two hundred and ninety-eight (16298) links; towards the South-west by a road line, twenty-six thousand five hundred and sixty-seven (26507) links; towards the North-west by Section numbered two, said block, four thousand two hundred and thirty (4230) links; and towards the North by other parts of Section numbered three aforesaid, eleven thousand and twenty-nine (11029) links', to the starting point. All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, containing by admeasurement one (1) rood and thirty-eight decimal five (38'5) poles, more or less, situate in Block ninety-five (XCV.), of the Town of Oamaru. Bounded towards the North-east by a right-of-way, one hundred and fifty-eight (158) links ; towards the South-east by a line at right angles to said right-of-way, one hundred and sixty (160) links; again towards the North-east by a line at right angles, eighty (80) links ; again towards the South-east by a line at right angles, one hundred and seventy-eight (178) links to a Railway Reserve ; towards the South-west by said Railway Reserve, one hundred and sixty (160) links ; towards the North-west by a line bearing 19° 28'to the middle of the Oamaru Creek diversion, seventysix (76) links; thence again towards the South-west and West by lines along the middle of the Oamaru Creek in a north-westerly direction, two hundred and eighty-four (284) links, to the point of commencement on southern side of right-of-way, four hundred and twenty (420) links from Thames Street: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, being Section numbered five (5), of Block twenty-five (XXV.), of the Town of Oamaru, containing by admeasurement one (1) rood, more or less. Bounded towards the North by Section 4, two hundred and thirty-six (236) links ; towards the South by Section 6 ; towards the East by Severn Street, one hundred (100) links ; and towards the West by Sections numbered 31 and 32 of the same block, one hundred and eight (108) links. All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, being part of a Government reserve lying immediately to the north of Test Street, containing by admeasurement three (3) acres and thirty-two (32) poles, more or less: the boundaries commencing at a point in the southern side of Aruu Street distant in an easterly direction five hundred (500) links from the junction with Tyne Street; thence in a south-easterly direction eight hundred and fifty (850) links; thence a little more easterly fifty (50) links ; thence southerly to Test Street, three hundred and eighty (380) links; thence westerly along Test Street, three hundred and fifty-two (352) links ; thence northerly to the starting-point, one thousand one hundred (1100) links. In pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the three hundred and fiftieth section of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and upon the request of the Borough of Roslyn, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby order that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby reserved out of the waste lands of the Provincial District of Otago, for the purpose of granting the same to the Corporation of the Borough of Roslyn.
