Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to school-teachers, education, and public instruction generally, training of public-school teachers, higher education, technical education, manual instruction, and such other matters affecting education which may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Atmore, Mr. Bodkin, Mr. Boswell, the Rev. Mr. Carr, Mr. Dickie, Mr. Doidge, Mr. McCombs, Dr. McMillan, Mr. Petrie, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. Mason.) Wednesday, the 3rd Day of September, 1941. Ordered, " That the Education Committee have leave to sit during the present sitting of the House."—(Rev. Mr. •Carr.) Tuesday, the 23rd Day of September, 1941. No. 37/1941. —Petition of T. W. McDonald, 251 The Terrace, Wellington. Praying that an inquiry be made into the financial operations of the Wellington Education Board, and that pending such inquiry consideration of clause 36 of the Finance Bill be deferred. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 4th September, 194].
No. 39/1941. —Petition of E. Goodall, Dunedin. Praying for financial relief and the setting-up of a Commission to inquire into the circumstances surrounding the termination of his daughter's engagement with the Dunedin Training College. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 17th September, 1941.
No. 60/1941. —Petition of Catherine E. Phillips, care of Hotel Parkvillo, Wanganui. Praying for an increase in her superannuation allowance, compensation, or other relief on account of alleged wrongful dismissal from the Education Service. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. Bth October, 1941. Clyde Carr, Chairman.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Education Committee desires to record its appreciation of the care and ability with which the Chairman, Rev. Clyde Carr, has conducted the business of the Committee during the session; and it also desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. 15th October, 1941. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Education Committee desires to record its appreciation of the capable manner in which the Clerk, Mr. M. S. Pasley, has discharged his various duties during the •session ; and it also desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. 15th October, 1941. Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Education Committee, consisting of ten members, has held five meetings during the session, with an average attendance of seven members. Three petitions were referred to the Committee ; these were considered and reported on to the House. 15th October, 1941. Clyde Care, Chairman.
