REPOKTS-
Fire Insurance Companies Liability Bill. 1 have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the Fire Insurance Companies Liability Bill, and recommends that the Bill be not allowed to proceed. The Committee desires, however, to recommend to the Government that legislation be introduced to provide—(l) That every fire-insurance policy over buildings and every renewal notice shall bear printed prominently thereon a notice that the insurance policy is a contract of indemnity only, and that in the event of fire no greater sum can be recovered than the amount of loss at the date of the fire, and that in the event of total loss of buildings the insurance company will either reinstate the property destroyed or pay the value at the date of such destruction, such value to be determined by mutual agreement oi by reference to arbitration ; and (2) that in cases of total loss of buildings by fire where the full amount of insurance stated in the policy is not paid, there shall be an equitable refund of the excess amount of premiums paid. The Committee recommends that the report be referred to the Government for consideration. 6th December, 1933.
Law op Libel Amendment Bill. have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the Law of Libel Amendment Bill, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown in the copy of the Bill hereto annexed. 6th December, 1933. • ——

Praying that the constitutional principle of fixed salaries for the Judiciary be adhered to and for an inquiry into the remuneration granted to Stipendiary Magistrates. 1 have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the above-mentioned petitions and recommends that they be referred to the Government for consideration. 7th December, 1933.
No. 153. —Petition of H. A. Young, S.M., and 2 Others. Praying that the constitutional principle of fixed salaries for the Judiciary be adhered to and for an inquiry into the remuneration granted to Stipendiary Magistrates. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the above-mentioned petitions and recommends that they be referred to the Government for consideration. 7th December, 1933.

Praying that the constitutional principle of fixed salaries for the Judiciary be adhered to and for an inquiry into the remuneration granted to Stipendiary Magistrates. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the above-mentioned petitions and recommends that they be referred to the Government for consideration. 7th December, 1933.
Trustee Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the Trustee Amendment Bill, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown on the copy thereof hereto annexed. Bth December, 1933.
Orders in Council Confirmation Bill. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the Orders in Council Confirmation Bill, and recommends that the Bill be not allowed to proceed ; but the Committee recommends that the Government investigate the question of Orders in Council and resulting regulations, with a view to preventing the issue of regulations which are ultra vires. The Committee recommends that this report be referred to the Government for consideration. Bth December, 1933.
Mortgagors and Tenants Relief Bill. I have the honour ro report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the Mortgagors and Tenants Relief Bill, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown in the copy of the Bill hereto annexed. 19th December, 1933.
Judicial Proceedings (Regulation op Reports) Bill. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has considered the Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill, and recommends that it not be proceeded with this session, but that it be introduced early next session. 21st December, 1933.
Motor-cabs Bill. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the Motorcabs Bill, recommends that, owing to the lateness of the session, the Bill be not proceeded with. 21st'December, 1933. W. J. Broadfoot, Chairman.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that at its .final meeting, held on Thursday, the 21st day of December, 1933 the Statutes Revision Committee expressed its appreciation of the services rendered by the Clerk, Mr. L. Special Report. I have the honour to report that at its final meeting, held on Thursday, the 21st day of December, 1933, the Statutes Revision Committee passed the following resolution : " That this Committee places on record its appreciation of the able services rendered by Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, as Chairman of the Committee, and directs that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and reported to the House." 21st December, 1933. W. E. Pinal Report. I have the honour to report that during the present session the Statutes Revision Committee, consisting of ten members, has held eight meetings, with an average attendance at each meeting of five members. Seven Bills and four petitions were referred to the Committee, and were considered and reported to the House. 21st December, 1933. W. E. Barnard, for Chairman.
