1933. NEW ZEALAND
DEPARTMENT OF IMMIGRATION (ANNUAL REPORT OF).
Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly by Command of His Excellency.
Sir,— Department of Immigration, 30th June, 1933. Herewith I have the honour to submit the annual report on the immigration which has taken place into New Zealand from the United Kingdom during the year 1932-33. I have, &c., Henry E. Moston, Acting Permanent Head. The Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Immigration, Wellington.
REPORT.
In accordance with thef decision of the Government to reduce the number of Departments of State, this Department during the year was merged with the Department of Labour. The total number of arrivals from the United Kingdom and Ireland during the year ended 31st March, 1933, was 626 (288 males and 338 females). Out of this total 56 were assisted by the Imperial and New Zealand Governments, and these were all nominated by persons already residing here. The practice of allowing nominations to be arranged in the United Kingdom by New-Zealanders residing there temporarily has been discontinued.
