ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Tuesday, the 21st Day of July, 1931. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to public health, infectious diseases, contagious diseases, hospitals, and to local authorities having charge of these matters, and to such other matters affecting public health as may be referred to it; to have power to call for persons and papers : three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Clinkard, Mr. Endean, Mr. Hawke, Mr. Healy, Mr. Makitanara, Mr. Munro, Mr. Parry, Mr. Sykes, Mr. Young, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. Stallworthy.) Tuesday, the 28th Day oe July, 1931. Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1930 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session, and that all petitions received during the first session of 1931 be dealt with as if they had been received this session." —(Right Hon. Mr. Forbes.) Wednesday, the 9th Day of September, 1931. Ordered, " That the report of the Public Health Committee on the petition of A. T. Murray be referred back to the Committee for further consideration." —(Mr. Hogan.)

No. 64/31 (Sess. 2). —Petition of N. B. Fryday, of Ngaere. Praying for the amendment of the law relating to public hospitals. I am directed to report that, the subject-matter of this petition being a matter of policy, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 20t.h August, 1931.
No. 10/33 (Sess. 2). —Petition of T. H. Waters-Callingham, of Wellington. Praying that he be allowed to practise his profession of an optician, or be granted a compassionate allowance. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 20th August, 1931.
No. 5/31 (Sess. 1). —Petition of L. H. Headdey, of Auckland. Praying for amendment of the Dentists Act, so that lie may be able to practise dentistry. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 9th September, 1931.

No. 90/31 (Sess. 2). —-Petition of A. T. Murray, of Wanganui. Praying that he be allowed to practise prosthetic dentistry. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 9th September, 1931. (Referred back to Committee for reconsideration.)
No. 61/31 (Sess. 2). —-Petition of T. West and 4 Others, of Christchurch. Praying for inquiry into the subject of work for rations, demanded by the North Canterbury Hospital Board. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 9th September, 1931.
No. 148/31 (Sess. 2). —Petition of P. McWilliam, of Wellington. Praying that he be allowed to practise prosthetic dentistry. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 7th November, 1931.
No. 134/31 (Sess. 2). —-Petition of H. N. G. Dyson, of Napier. Praying that provision be made enabling him to practise dentistry under supervision. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 7th November, 1931.
No. 90/31 (Sess. 2). —Petition of A. T. Murray, of Wanganui. Praying that he be allowed to practise prosthetic dentistry. I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee has again considered this petition, referred back by order of the House on the 9th September, and has no recommendation to make. 7th November, 1931.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Committee desires to record its appreciation of the ability and courtesy displayed by the Chairman, Mr. C. H. Clinkard, in the discharge of his duties during the session ; and, further, desires that this resolution shall be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. J. W. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the efficient services rendered by the Clerk of the Committee, Mr. R. A. Pringle ; and, further, desires that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. 7th November, 1931.
Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee, consisting of ten members, has during the session held seven meetings, with an average attendance at each meeting of six members. Seven petitions were considered and reported upon. C. H. Clinkard, Chairman. 7th November, 1931.
