ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Tuesday, the 21st Day of July, 1931. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to whom shall be referred all matters relating to mining and all Bills relating to mining ; three to be a quorum ; the Committee to consist of Mr. Black, Mr. Bodkin, Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Hawke, Mr. H. E. Holland, Mr. Martin, Mr. Munns, Mr. Samuel, Mr. Waite, and the Mover." (Hon. Mr. Murdoch.) Fbiday, the 30th Day of October,l93l. Ordered, " That the Mining Amendment Bill be referred to the Goldfields and Mines Committee." (H on. Mr. Jones.)

I have the honour to report that, as a matter of policy is involved in the petition, the Committeerecommends that it be referred to the Government for consideration. 17th September, 1931.

No. 53.—Petition of 0. de Santa. Peaying for monetary redress in respect of alleged injury. I have the honour to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 17th September, 1931.

Mining Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Committee has carefully considered the above Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment. 4th November, 1931.

Special Report. The members of the Goldfields and Mines Committee desire to place on record their keen appreciation of the able, courteous, and impartial manner in which the Chairman, Mr. G. C. C. Black, has dealt with the business of the Committee during the session. It is further desired that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and reported to the House. 9th November, 1931. G. C. Munns, Member of the Committee.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the members of the Committee desire to record their appreciation of the services of the Clerk, Mr. Llewellyn Meredith. They also desire that this resolution be recorded in the minutes and reported to the House. 9th November, 1931. Geo. C. Black, Chairman.

Final Report. I Save tie honour to report that the Goldfields and Mines Committee, consisting of ten members, has during the session held four meetings, with an average attendance at each meeting of six members. One Bill and two petitions were referred to the Committee, all of which were finally dealt with and reported to the House. 9th November, 1931. G-eo. C. Black, Chairman.
