Resolved, That this Committee desires to place on record its high appreciation of the splendid services rendered to the Dominion by the late Sir Walter Clarke Buchanan, who was for many years a valued and active member of this Committee ; and that this resolution be reported to the House, and a copy forwarded to the relatives of the late Sir W. Praying that an Act be passed prohibiting the issue of eertificates-of-record of dairy cattle, except by permission of the Minister of Agriculture and under conditions prescribed by him. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 28th October, 1924.

I am directed to report that, as the subject-matter of this petition is now under the consideration of the Committee in the form of a Bill, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 28th October, 1924.

Dairy Industry Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Committee, having carefully considered the above Bill and having taken evidence thereon, recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill annexed hereto. 28th October, 1924.

Fruit Control Bill. I have the honour to report that the Committee, having carefully considered the above Bill and having taken evidence thereon, recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill annexed hereto ; and further recommends that the evidence attached be printed. (Vide 1.-JOa.) 29th October, 1924.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Industries and Stock Committee desires to record its great appreciation of the tact and ability with which the Chairman, Sir George Hunter, has presided over the work of the Committee. It further desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. Geo. W. Forbes, 4th November, 1924. Member of the Committee.

Final Report. I HAVE the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Industries and Stock Committee, consisting of ten members, has hold twenty-two meetings during the session ; thirteen of them were devoted to the Fruit Control Bill, and six to the Dairy Industry Amendment Bill. The Committee also, in seven reports, dealt with forty petitions. The average attendance of members at the meetings was eight. 4th November, 1924.
