SLOPES OF IYIAUNGATAUTARI The proposal to acquire an area or land on the higher slopes of Maungataulari Mountain as a climatic and scenic reserve was referred to again at a meeting or the Waipa County Council. Mr J. W. Garland said that two or three months ago lie completed the purchase of the property referred to for his sons on active service overseas. lie had since learned that the council’s special com mittee had inspected the property and locality, without his knowledge, and lie considered tlie council's action was undulv delayed. When the negotiations were commenced lie had thought the council was not interested. Several councillors expressed sympathy with Mr Garlahd and agreed that council action was too late, but it was pointed out that two or three months ago Mr Gar land had told the council of his mg..it tions and intimated that he did not personally wish to forestall council action. He had then said his sons were Hie principals and they would have to decide. After consideration, the council decided to take no further action until the owners return** from overseas.
