ROMMEL’S ACTIVITY LONDON. June 13. Rommel is organising the defences of the south of France and has established his headquarters at Perpignan, says the Algiers radio. Rommel is reported to have asked for the command of the entire defences from the south of France to south of SalonikaHe recently inspected the defences of Corsica. UNITED NATIONS DAY WELLINGTON, Monday “As we salute today the flags of the United Nations I send to you and the people of New Zealand cordial greetings and best wishes of the Chinese Government and people,” states a message from Marshal Chiang Kai-shek to the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon. P Fraser. “ The danger which we in the Pacific face today is still very real, but with our growing might and the solidarity among the United Nations there is no longer any doubt that the common will to eliminate that danger by crushing the enemy must prevail.”
