AMERICAN OFFICER’S EXPLOIT CAIRO, June 11 It is revealed that Brigadier-Gen-eral Patrick Hurley, using a fleet of small fishing crait which he bought in Australia, defied the Japanese! blockade of the Philippines and carried aid to the American forces on the Islands. Brigadier-General Hurley, who on June 11 received the United States Distinguished Flying Cross, flew to Australia, carrying 1,000,000 dollars in gold, with which he bought up all available fishing vessels, and other small craft for blockade-running.
