WEDDING

JOHANSON—SUTHERLAND The wedding took place in the First Presbyterian Church, Frankton, recently, when Margaret Jean, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. M. Sutherland, King Street, Frankton, was married to Pilot-Officer Keith Campbell Johanson, eldest son of Mr and Mrs D. A. Johanson, Manurewa. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. L. French and Mrs R. Chalmers, sister of the bride, presided at the organ. The church had been arranged with pink and blue hydrangeas. During the ceremony a solo was sung by Mrs J. Woodward. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a short frock of hyacinth blue fashioned on slimfitting lines, the bodice and skirt being gathered into a diamond-shaped waistmand. A necklet of golden bells were caught to the frock at the front and she wore a hyacinth blue summer felt halo hat. Her bouquet was composed of pink carnations and blue love-in-a-mist. Miss Maurene Hare was in attendance as bridesmaid and wore a short length frock of oyster grey, the bodice being designed with two ruched panels down the front. Tiny self-coloured buttons extended from the neckline to the hipline at the back and she wore a summer felt halo hat in oyster grey, with a mauve veil. Her bouquet was of mauve pom-pom dahlias and carnations with trails of smilax fern. Bandsman Donald Sutherland, brother of the bride, was the best man. The ushers were Messrs J. Woodward and R. Chalmers. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Centreway Rooms where Mrs Sutherland received the guests wearing a navy blue ensemble with a teal blue hat and scarf. Her shoulder spray was of blue love-in-a-mist and rosebuds. The mother of the bridegroom was wearing a navy blue ensemble with a matching hat and accessories, and a shoulder spray composed of pink tiger lilies and maidenhair fern.

The bride travelled wearing a clover silk linen suit with white facings, a white turban hat and a primrose box coat.
