HOSPITAL FLAG RETURNS

W.A.V.C. SOUVENIR A New Zealand Ensign, tattered and torn, has been returned to the Hamilton War Auxiliary Volunteer Corps by Colonel G. W. Gower, Officer Commanding the No. 3 General Hospital, Overseas. This ensign was given to the No. 3 General Hospital by the women of Hamilton, but the continuous exposure to heat has faded and torn the flag in three months and it now forms a valuable souvenir of the Auxiliary Corps. A third flag has been despatched to Colonel Gower. Members of the corps are on duty throughout this week at the “Bonds for Bombers” campaign tables, and on Thursday the corps will parade with the R.N.Z.A.F. Band and the Air Training Corps. Several girls assisted members of the Patriotic Committee in providing a meal for the men who took part in the military parade on Monday. TE AWAMUTU PARADE Representatives of the Te Awamutu W.W.S.A. sub-committee, Red Cross and St. John Ambulance, the Home Guard and the E.P.S. attended a parade of the Women’s Auxiliary Corps in Te Awamutu recently. The Commanding Officer, Mrs G. E. Kay, welcomed the visitors on behalf of the corps, and Mr Weighman, Adjutant of the Te Awamutu Home Guard then inspected the company. Demonstrations in signalling, first aid, stretcher bearing and drill were given, the salute in the march past being taken by the Home Guard Commander. The Mayoress, Mrs L. G. Armstrong, presented the three first aid and 20 home nursing certificates earned during the year by W.W.S.A. members and the instructors from the Home Guard, the Red Cross and the St. John’s Ambulance were thanked for their untiring services.
