PETROL STORING

FILLING OF TANKS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Wednesday The Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, stated that arrangements are being made with oil companies and resellers to fill the large number of tanks on petrol stations. The Minister appealed for all holders of empty 44-gallon drums to return these at the earliest possible moment to the nearest company depot. These arrangements, said the Minister, were being made in order that all the storage capacity in the country could be utilised to the maximum extent for the storage of motor spirit and aviation fuel. The oil companies and resellers were cooperating with the Government in this matter and the licensed road transport industry was prepared to assist in the transport of empty drums in the rural areas. At most stations throughout the country one, or at the most two, of the pumps will be used to supply the public.
