FATE OF INFANT BOY

HEAD CAUGHT IN OTTOMAN GREYMOUTH. Sunday The infant son of Mr and Mrs George Williams, of Cobden, Alan Lloyd Williams, aged 18 months, met his death in most unusual circumstances on Saturday afternoon. The mother put the child in a double bed at 3 p.m.. and at 3.45, when she left to do some shopping, saw he was asleep and left him in the house Mrs Williams returned about 4.15 p.m. and, hearing nothing; thought the child with still asleep and commenced to prepare the evening meal. She then went to the room and the child was missing. Mrs Williams found the child in another room with his head caught in the lid of a box ottoman.
