COLLEGE AS HOSPITAL

PROPOSALS FOR RELIEF (By Telegrapli.—Press Association; BLENHEIM, Monday After an inspection of Marlborough College and the hospital accommodation, the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, held out some hope to the College Board of at least a partial reversion of the college building from emergency hospital to educational purposes. After conferring with the Board of Governors Mr Nordmeyer discussed with the Hospital Board ’proposals to expedite the construction of extensions to the public hospital, the contract for which has been held up for lack of materials. The Minister suggested that the extensions be entrusted to the Public Works Department to be carried out in light materials. This proposition will be discussed by the Hospital Board this afternoon and also between the interested departments at Wellington.
