BELIEVED KILLED

FLEET AIR ARM OFFICER SUB-LIEUTENANT BENNETT Advice has been received by Mr and Mrs C. O. Bennett, of Hamilton, that their only son, Sub-Lieutenant Jock Bennett, of the Fleet Air Arm, has been reported missing, believed killed in an aircraft accident. Born in Hamilton 22 years ago, Sub-Lieu-tenant Bennett received his education at the Hamilton High School and Victoria University College, Wellington. Until he left for England in 1940 to join the Fleet Air Arm he was on the staff of the accountancy branch of the Health Department. In sporting activities Sub-Lieu-tenant. Bennett was a prominent golfer, and a Wellington representative hockey player. He also represented his university at cricket. From England he went to Ontario, Canada, for further training. He afterward returned to England, where he completed his course about three months ago.
