GARDEN PARTY
RESOLUTION ADOPTED A delightful garden party was ' held at the home of Mrs J. Salisbury, j Boundary Road, recently, to mark ; the closing down of tne Church ot ! Christ Ladies’ Guild for the year. | j An enjoyable time was spent under • the shady trees with games ani i competitions. After the serving of afternoon tea, Mrs Gadd, on benalf j of the guild, thanked Mrs Salisbury i for a happy afternoon, and handed ; her a small Christmas gift from the ladies. During the afternoon the Ladies’ Guild unanimously adopted the following resolution passed at the women’s mass meeting held recently I Hamilton:— “That this meeting views with I grave concern the number of young . men under 21 years of age, especially j Territorials, so often seen under the ! influence of liquor, and respectfully I urges the Minister of Defence to take I all steps in his power to remedy this 1 matter in the enforcement of the S liquor laws and in more superviI sion of the men.” Among those present were:—Mesdames Salisbury, president of the guild, N. Polglase, H. W. Wood, Foster, Gadd, A. L. Pearson, Cooney, Ward, T. H. Pearson, A. Polglase, Haworth, Robinson, Buick, A. Hood, Bryant, Davies, Bee, A. Robinson, Westwater, Spicer, Mitchell, Phillips, Bunker, Ellis, McSweeney, Riddell, Armstrong, Butt, Miss F. Salisbury.
