SOCIAL FUNCTION
VOLUNTARY AID DETACHMENT A social function was held at the Red Cross Depot recently lor members of tne Second Voluntary Aid Detachment and their friends. Each section was responsible for the arrangement of a portion of the programme, which was as follows: Songs, Miss L. Fletcher; elocutionary items, Miss N. Scrimsnaw; songs, Miss Owens; Charade, No. 1 Section; pianoforte solo, Miss G. Sanders; musical monologue, Mrs C. H. Ross; playette, ‘ ine mospual of Convenience,” No. 3 Section; pianoforte solo, Miss G. Jenkms; vocal duets, Miss L. Fletcher and Lieut. Ross; humorous sketch, Miss K. Rapps; songs, Lieut. Ross; play, “The Rest Cure,” No. 2 Secton. The accompanists were Mrs Owens and Miss June Vincent. At the conclusion of the concert programme, presentations were made to Mrs B. Montgomery (Lady Superintendent) and Mi,ss C. Hooker (Commandant). Miss O. Moody .(Assistant Commandant), in making the presentations, expressed the detachment's appreciation of the unstinted service rendered by the two officers concerned. The presentation of a book was made to SergeantMajor G. R. Young, of the Home Guard, who has given generously of his time in drilling the detachment. The evening concluded with the serving of supper.
