GREEKS HOLD OUT
ITALIANS THROWN BACK STRAFING FROM ENEMY / PROBING FOR WEAK SPOTS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Oct. 30 The Athens correspondent of the British United Press , says it is claimed that ail Greek frontier positions are holding out confidently, in spite of strafing from relays of Italian bombers and fighters. Experienced snipers, tumbling men and mules from the narrow mountain ledges have enabled Greek mountain units to throw back well-equipped Italian columns. The Greek communications are | working perfectly. Isolated parties are connected by field wireless, and observation aeroplanes are co-operat-ing. The main Italian attacks have developed along the coast from Konispoli. Italians are reported to have reached Philastronis, about five miles inside the frontier, but apparently have not reached any of the Greek prepared positions. Still probing for weak spots in Greece’s mountain defences, the Italians have not yet launched their main offensive. They claim further successes, but Athens insists that the Greek lines are unbroken.
