SOVIET WARPLANES

ARRIVAL IN GREECE (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) V LONDON, Oct. 30 It is reported from Salonica that in the past few days 134 Soviet warplanes have arrived in Greece, in conformity with the recent RussoGreek agreement. Forty-five are bombers and the remainder fighters. BOMBER RAMMED RAIDERS BROUGHT DOWN BRITISH PILOT’S EXPLOIT “SO I LEFT HURRIEDLY” (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Oct. 30 A remarkable exploit by a Hurricane pilot-officer is recorded in an Air Ministry bulletin. In a recent engagement he, with his squadron, was at 19,000 ft when he saw a squadron of Dorniers, accompanied by enemy lighters. “We went into attack the bombers, and did several quite good attacks,” he said later. “Finally, all my ammunition was gone, but I had the satisfaction of seeing one Dornier I aimed at exploding in the air, and I saw another go spinning down with part of its wing off. “My aircraft then rammed one of the enemy bombers amidships, and one of its wings was torn off. My aircraft wrenched clear of the enemy machine, which was now minus its . port wing and most of its engine. ’ My cockpit was filled with fumes and the machine was falling out of control in an inverted spin, so I left hurriedly.”
