AIR CASUALTIES
SON OF MINISTER SERGEANT-PILOT KILLED (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) WELLINGTON, Tuesday Advice has reached the Rev. G. W. and Mrs Hunt, Miramar, Wellington, that their youngest son, Sergeant-Pilot G. W. Hunt, has been killed in an air accident in England. Sergeant-Pilot Hunt before the war joined the Civil Reserve of Pilots, being given his early training under that scheme. He enlisted in the Royal New Zealand Air Force shortly after war broke out and went into camp almost immediately. He went overseas a few months ago.
DEATH IN ENGLAND (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Tuesday The following Expeditionary Force casualty was announced tonight—Private Roy Clifford Strachan, 22nd (Wellington) Battalion, died in England on October 10. His mother is Mr H. M. Strachan, Lees Road, Taradale. WESTPORT PILOT MISSING (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WESTPORT, Tuesday Advice has been received by Mr T. Douglas that his son. SergeantPilot C. H. Douglas, aged 20, is missing in air operations. Sergeant-Pilot Douglas was accepted in the civil reserve in 1937 and trained in the Greymouth Aero Club. SERGEANT A PRISONER (By Telegrapti. —press Association) WELLINGTON. Wednesday Sergeant Colin Mackenzie Laird, previously reported missing on air operations, is now reported a prisoner of war. His mother is Mrs J. Laird, Ngaio, Wellington.
