MANY HAMILTON RECRUITS NORTHERN MILITARY DISTRICT In the first two days of this week, 100 men have volunteered in the No. 4 (Hamilton) military area for active service, and thus the brisk rate of recruiting experienced last week, is being well maintained. Coincident with the record recruiting in the area last week, an excellent response was experienced throughout the Northern Military District and 1103 men joined up during the week. The figure was almost 40u more than the number for the previous week. The Auckland area provided more than half with 595, compared with 443 the week before, while the Hamilton area jumped from 135 to 327. Paeroa received 79 registrations, compared with 68 the week before, and Whangarei went from 85 to 102. Maori enlistments also improved with a total of 55. The four areas contributed to this total as follows: Auckland, 18; Paeroa, 19; Whangarei, 18; and Hamilton, 0. From the No. 4 area, F. A. Scott has left for Hopu Hopu as a member of one of the railway units, and A. E. Nicolls, W. Bennett and L. D. Israelson have entered camp as cooks.
