Sir John Reid, of Wellington, is a visitor to Hamilton, and is at the Hamilton Hotel.

Mr C. L. Losser, of England, is in Hamilton, and is at the Hamilton Hotel.

Mr W. Marshall, of Paeroa, will leave for Wellington tonight to attend a meeting of the National Emergency Council.

Messrs T. Miller (Auckland), J. J. Quirk, J. H. R. Egan, B. J. Climo (Gisborne) and E. Mclntosh (Wellington) are at the Hamilton Hotel.

The Rev. S. W. Webber, of Otorohanga, has been appointed to represent the Waikato Presbytery at a special meeting of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church to be held at Wellington this month.

Dr. John Barron, formerly of Havelock North, has been appointed assistant to Sir Harold Gillies, the noted plastic surgeon, according to private advice from London. Sir Harold is a brother of Mr H. T. Gillies, Hamilton.

The Rev. D. C. Mclntyre, who has been in charge of the Paterangi Presbyterian Church district for the past five years, has been requested to remain for a further period, subject to the approval of the missions committee. The Waikato Presbytery has endorsed the request.

Mr W. L. Bell, engineer in charge of railway construction between Gisborne and Waikokopu, has been appointed acting district Public Works engineer at Whangarei. He will be succeeded by Mr L. C. Hardie, until lately in charge of construction on the Paeroa-Pokeno railway.

Mr A. Hopkirk, who for 20 years has occupied the position of session clerk of the Presbyterian Church, Cambridge, has resigned. Presbytery at its meeting yesterday appointed the Moderator, the Rev. D. C. Mclntyre, to represent it at a congregational gathering to be held in Mr Hopkirk’s honour at an early date

Mr FI. Gladstone Hill, formerly of Hamilton, has been granted a temporary commission in the Air Force in the rank of of Flight Lieutenant and has been appointed bandmaster of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band, and Director of Music to the R.N.Z.A.F. Flight Lieutenant Hill succeeds Flight Lieutenant T. J Kirk-Burnnand, who is new serving with the Expeditionary Force.
