THE SUNKEN SUBMARINE
WORK OF SALVAGING THETIS PREPARATIONS BY ASSOCIATION (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Aug. 22 The Liverpool and Glasgow Salvage Association has issued a statement on the salvage of the submarine Thetis. This says: “The work of refitting the salvage steamer Zelo is proceeding according to plan and she will be ready to sail to the scene of operations on Thursday. Some days must elapse after the Zelo's arrival before preparations for lifting the submarine can be completed.” The naval diving ship Tedworth and the association's steamer Ranger left Liverpool for the scene of the salvage. Their work will be to clear away the wire and debris round the submarine, which impeded the work of the divers. PROSECUTIONS IN EIRE OFFENCES AGAINST STATE TRIAL OF TREASON SUSPECTS (Independent Cable Service) DUBLIN, August 22 Two proclamations issued by the Eire Government yesterday under the Offences Against the State Act give the Government power to establish military and civil Courts without juries, for the trial of persons suspected of being connected with treasonable activities.
