FAREWELL DANCE
MR G. IRVING HONOURED Friends of Mr Gordon Irving, of the Bank of Australasia, Matamata, gathered in the Hinuera Hall recently, to bid him farewell, prior to his departure for Waverley. Dancing, interspersed with much-appreciated items, passed the time pleasantly, Miss Nessie Pennell providing the dance music. During the evening, Mr L. -Sutcliffe, on behalf of those present, eulogised the guest-of-honour and presented him with an inscribed silver travelling flask, as a token of the esteem in which he was held. Mr Irvins: suitably responded. The following programme was given:—Vocal solos. Mrs L). R. Abernethy; violin solos. Mrs Ivern Kosoof; vocal solos, Mr J. E. Cronin; humorous action song, Mr M. Loveridge; vocal solo, Mr R. Powell. Dr. D. R. Abernethy acted as accompanist. Among those present were :—Mesdames P. A. Irving (-Christchurch), C. Letford (Christchurch), Thomas, Hammonds, L.
