AT MOTUMAOHO
FANCY DRESS BALL The annual fancy dress ball arranged by the Motumaoho Women’s Institute, was held recently. A large number of dancers were present, and the varied costumes made a very gay scene. A novelty dance was won byMr and Mrs A. Turner, and a competition by Mrs Richards. Items given during the evening included a topical song by Mr \V. G. Dunbar, and humorous sketches by Messrs A. Ferguson, D. Fenwick and J. Gifford. Prizes for fancy costumes were awarded as follows: Special, Mr A. Turner (Don Juan), and Mrs Turner (Minuet); humorous lady, Mrs W. Smith (Aunt Agatha) ; humorous gentleman, Miss J. Glasscock (Sylvia Starch) ; most original lady, Mrs W. D. Glasscock (Ricketts Blue); most original gentleman, Mr W. Penney (Convict 99); prettiest lady, Mrs G. Baker (Elizabethan Lady) ; best gentleman’s costume. Miss M. Wilson (Dick Turpin) ; most-sustained characters, Mrs V. J. llucber (Schoolgirl) , and Mr W. G. Dunbar (the Curate). Those present in fancy dress were:—Mrs 11. Lennan (Lady in Waiting), Mrs I. Gainford (Pack of Cards), Mrs W. C,. Dunbar (Carnival Bells), Mrs G. llarboUle (Gipsy), Mrs Pittams (Irish Colleen', Miss G. Glass--1 rock (Lipstick). Miss B. Shaw Snow i White), Miss Fenwick (Gipsy Girl), | Miss M. Smith Early Victorian), Miss L. Luke Valinline), Mrs W. Penney ’Grandma), Miss D. Gainford (Early Victorian). Miss D. Pittams (Chinese), Miss M. Shaw (Tropic Night); Messrs I G. Hat-bottle (Clown), W. Wilson ,The ! Vicar), V. J- Hucker (Swagger), L. Pittams (Pierrot , A. Ferguson and D. Fenwick Two Ladies). Otliers present were : —Mesdames A. Meharrv. T. Stark, Lyndon, C.
