NGARUAWAHIA NOTES
ROWING CLUB’S ANNUAL DANCE PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES Always a popular function, the annual dance of the Ngaruawahia Rowing Club, held in the town hall, recently, was again most successful. The hall, which was thronged with dancers, was attractively 'arranged with streamers and balloons of blue and while, the club colours, and the supper room looked most attractive arranged with bowls of Iceland poppies and streamers of blue and white. Music was supplied by the Regent Dance Band, and the master of ceremonies was Mr A. Menzies. A euchre tournament, run in conjunction with the dance, was won by Mrs Wallbank, Mrs Robson, and Mr l\. Bradley. During the evening, opportunity was taken by the president, Mr H. D. Sampson, to present cups and trophies won during the season to the rowers. Among those present were:—Mesdames J. BRIDGE EVENING
An enjoyable bridge evening was held by Mr and Mrs R. M. McFariane, at their residence, Ngaruawahia, recently, the proceeds to be divided among the three queens in the present carnival. There were seven tables of bridge players, the winners being Mrs Fuller and Mr H. D. Sampson. 'Competitions were won by Mrs Brown, Mr C. E. Moir, Mr J. D. Joy, and Mr A. Warburton. Among those present were:—Mesdames B. McFariane, R. D. Duxiield, J. D. Joy, C. E. Wilson, C. E. Moir, A. Garrv, E. Fuller, .J. Henstiilwood, W. Paterson, Jacobsen, 11. 15. Fraser, F. Hall, E. FAREWELL EVENING
A most enjoyable social evening was tendered Mr E. P. Mc'Burney by the members of the Ngaruawahia Catholic community in the Masonic Hall, recently. Mr Mcßurney, who is leaving to take up his residence in Auckland, was the recipient of a handsome leather dressing case, presented by the Rev. Father Courtney, who spoke in glowing terms of the work Mr McBurney had done for the church. Mr Mdßurnpy suitably responded. Music for tiie dancing was supplied by Mrs Tarplett’s Orchestra, and Mr u Kane was master of ceremonies. A noveltv waltz was won by Mr Abbott and Miss Abbott.. Among those present were: —Mesdames W.
