HAMILTON OFFICER CHOSEN FAREWELL BY BATTERY Before his departure to be trained as a member of the New Zealand Permanent Forces, at Duntroon, Australia, Second-Lieutenant J. A. Pountney, of Hamilton, was farewelled by members of Hie Second Medium Battery of the New Zealand Artillery, last night. From the officers and men of the battery lie was presented with a travelling case by Major E. F. Clayton Greene U.8.E., officer commanding the battery. Major Clayton Greene said the battery had distinguished itself in many ways and the selection of SecondLieutenant Pountney for training at Duntroon was another mark of distinction. Mr Pountney joined the battery in the early days and worked his way through the ranks to his present position. Second-Lieutenant Pountney leaves for Australia on Monday.
