HAWKE’S BAY v. WAIKATO CUP CHALLENGE TO-MORROW ADDED INTEREST IN FIXTURE Greater Interest than ever wdTl oentre around the third challenge for the Hawke Cup. which will commence tomorrow Rt Seddon Park between Waikato (holders) and Hawke’s Bay ( challengers). The visitors are considered to have a particularly strong combination and are expected to provide a gruelling test, for the holders of the trophy. With the wicket in excellent order at present and prospects of fine weather favouring the match, nothing should prevent the players giving a fine exhibition of bright oricket, and the public are assured of an Interesting display. The match will also continue on Monday and Tuesday. The following are the respective teams:— Waikato—R. Skeet '’captain), T. Lyon, M. Lyon, R. Clough, E. Everest, A. .T. Aitken. D. Morgan. P, Bright. Gonole, G. Gaddis, E. Robinson. A. Dean, E. Evans (twelfth man)* Captain's Success The success of R. Skeet, oaptaln of the Waikato side, in gaining a place In the Auckland Plunket Shield eleven will be hailed with enthusiasm by followers of the game in this part of the district, and his form will add considerable interest to the fixture. In the past Skeet. has proved a capable leader and behind the stumps he has rendered yeoman service to the home team, while he is a batsman capable of making runs when the occasion demands. In the Hawke’s Bay side the appearance of T. Reaney will arouse the interest of the cricketing public, particularly as he was successful in gaining the “hat trick” in the final series of games in his district prior to the Hawke Cup fixture. Indications are that he is bowling at the top of his form. Messrs J. F. Strang and L. F. Casey will umpire the match.

Hampton (Mill Hill, captain), C. G. Hunt (Bannister Court), H. E. Annett (Tiffin’s, , W. H. K. Davey (lvlng's School, Worcester), G. A. Acres (Sutton Valence), G. C. Wyldes (Brighton), H. K. Parkes 'Shoreham). M. F. Toomer (Cheltenham), H. A. nidgway (Denstone . K. C. A. Knowles (Wellingborough), J. A. Golby (Merchant. Taylors, Crosby), L. May (Devizes, twelfth man). Umpire, A. F. B. Broadhurst (Winchester). The Waikato team holds the Beechey Trophy, which it won from Auckland in 1936. The 1937 fixture was abandoned and last year’s match was drawn. COMPETITION MATCHES SENIOR,. B AND JUNIOR Owing to the Hawke Cup match between Waikato and Hawke’s Bay being played to-morrow all Senior A matches in the Hamilton competition have been abandoned.
