TRIBUTE TO SERVICES

NEW GAS ENGINEER FAR EWELL ED AT NAPIER (Special to Times) NAPIER. Friday Tributes to his services in Napier were paid at valedictory functions in honour of Mr L. Pickering who is leaving to take up the position of gas engineer for the Hamilton Borough Council. At the annual meeting of the Napier Thirty Thousand Club with which Mr Pickering has been associated for over 20 years, the members spoke in appreciation of his services t-» the club both as a member and as president. At a special farewell function, Mr Pickering was thanked fm* his work for the Napier Fire Brigade and for his services to the town as a member of Ihe Reconstruction Committee and president of the Thirty Thousand Club. Reference was also made to Mr L. Pickering's work for the Napier Rotary Club. Regret that Napier was to lose Mr Pickering's services was expressed by the Mayor, Mr T. W. Hercock. The in- ; terest that Mr Pickering had shown j in the town had been demonstrated by the various amenities which Napier boasted.
