CALEDONIAN BALL
CAMBRIDGE SOCIETY , SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION The stirring music of the pipes marked the beginning of a gala night for a large number of Scottish people in Cambridge when the Cambridge Caledonian Society held its annual ball j in the Town Hall on Thursday night. Chief Wallace, of Cambridge, and Chief McLeod, of the Te Aroha Cale- \ donian Society, were in turn “piped i in" by a member of the Te Aroha Pipe , Band, whose presence at the function contributed largely to the success. These preliminaries were brought to ; a conclusion after the band, to the ac- i companiment of Highland Marches, j entered the hall and marched on to the j stage where they rendered items of Scottish music. At intervals during the evening items j were contributed, the artists 'being : | Vocal items, Miss Jean McLeod, Miss j Dorothy McLeod and Mr L. Feisst. j Highland dances: Miss Margaret Wallace and Miss Mary Webb. Tap dance: j Miss Faye Nickle. Pipe music: Miss j. Helen Clothier and a member of the South Auckland Pipe Band. Large bowls of golden and bronze marigold and scarlet hawthorn berries were the decorations on the stage where dance music was played by the Marina Band.
