FAREWELL AFTERNOON
TEACHER HONOURED A well-attended function took place at the Gordonton school recently to farewell Miss Daisy Morgan, the assistant mistress at the school, who has been transferred to Whitiora School, Hamilton. Parents and friends were entertained by items by the school children as follows:—Recitations, Zona Edwards, Margaret Riddell; song, Nancy Taylor; part song, Masters Bernard Vincent, lari Laidluw, Jack Dick. Walter Riddell. A skelrh was presented by Margaret o'Jlearn, Jack l.ick and Bernard Vincent. Mr V. A. Long, headmaster, spoke of !lie high qualities of Miss Morgan as a teacher, and on behalf of the district. Mr F. L. Williamson, chairman of I lie school committee, presented the guest-of-honour with a handsome brass fire-screen and pedestal howl. Little Anwyn Long presented to Miss Morgan a posy of marigolds. Miss Morgan suitably returned thanks, and later afternoon tea was served.
