A BIG ORDER FOR PLANT AND MACHINERY SECURED BY SHEFFIELD FIRM (Official Wireless) (Received Feb. 12, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, Feb. 11 The newspapers record the placing with a Sheffield firm of one of the biggest orders for a steel works plant and machinery ever booked in Sheffield. The order has been placed bv the Soviet, and its execution will give continuous employment for 4 8 months at new works which the firm recently opened. The total weight of the finished machinery will be between 5000 and 6000 tons. The order was obtained in keen competition with tenders from Germany and the United States. The steel output of 1,081,400 tons in January in the United Kingdom was the highest ever recorded for the first ■month of the year.
