TE AWAMUTU.
FIRE BOARD MEETS. Reporting to a meeting of the Te Awamutu Fire Board, the Government Inspector of Fire Brigades (Mr R. Glrltng-Butcher) said he was very pleased with the local brigade’s keenness and enthusiasm —an opinion that was confirmed by Superintendent Woolley, or Wellington. Referring •to the Improved water supply provided, the Inspector made It clear that that Improvement has not placed the supply beyond criticism, and as the town grows It will be necessary to make Turther Improvements. The chairman said Mr Girllng-Butoher s advocacy of the Borough Council extending Its present 12ln. water main from Plrongla mountain for a further distance towards Te Awamutu, and using tho replaced 81n. pipes to duplicate the remaining distance had been confirmed by the Wellington superintendent, and their opinion was at variance with that of Mr J. W. Campbell, hydraulic engineer who supervised the recent improvements to the borough water supply. No decision was reached, Turther consideration being deferred for a full meeting of the board.
