SETTLERS’ SILVER JUBILEE. The Otewa and Taliahi district, settlers celebrated their silver jubilee in the Otewa Hall on Friday evening, when there was a good crowd in assist at the celebrations. Visitors were present from other districts. Including representatives front the Otorohangii Town’ board and Chamber of Commerce. The function took the form of a social, dance and 500 evening. Pioneer settlers, or a quarter of a'century ago, told of their early experiences. King’s Portrait Unvoilod. The unveiling or the King’s portrait at the Otorohanga High School grounds, on Friday afternoon, was attended by leading citizens and the majority or the members of t tie School Committee and teaching stall’. Major 11. S. S. Westmaeott performed the unveiling ceremony, in the .school grounds, addressing the children and spectators on the history of King tveorge V. and his ancestors. The chairman. Mr W. I. Itowyer, and the headmaster, Mr C. Hot son, also took the platform. Bad Wcathor Conditions. During tho past few days very wet and wintry weather lias obtained.
