FIRE-EATING ITALIAN.
CHALLENGE TO MAJOR ATTLEE. SUBSTITUTE’S OFFER REJECTED. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received July 18, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, July 17. Captain Fanelli, the Italian officer who challenged Major C. R. Attlee, Labour' member of the House of Commons to a duel (whioh challenge was declined by the Major on the grounds that it was a barbarous and obsolete method of liquidating quarrels and put a premium on a bully), replying to Mr Dickinson, who offered to take up the quarrel on behalf of Major Attlee, wrote, “ Your letter confirms my conviction regarding English subjects, whom 'Labour principles have not made rotten."
The Incident arose from some remarks made by Major Attlee in the House of Commons on the ItaloAbyssinian dispute. /.
