A message from Saint Nazaire states that the second-class cruiser Marseilles was launched in the presence of members of the Cabinet. Her displacement is 7720 tons, length 590 feet and speed 32 knots. She will carry nine guns, eight anti-aircraft guns, four torpedo tubes, and a catapult for the projection of seaplanes. M. Pietri (Minister of Marine), at the subsequent dinner, expressed satisfaction at France’s recent naval progress, and pointed out that her submarines were the most numerous and her destroyers the swiftest in 'the world. The best way for a nation to keep her friends was to be their equals.
