FASHION FANCIES.

FOR SUMMER WEAR. This year (says "(Madelon,” in the October Australian Journal) no one oan reasonably complain of limited ■choice for their summer wardrobe, with the expansive number of riotous ■and colourful designs, obligingly ranging from tiny pin spots and diminutive forget-me-nots to large whirling wind-swept balls and equally large eaves and flo\yers, with faces of pastel ■and positive colours; from rakish plaids and sleek serpentine ribbon coils to light poised delicately hued birds, in equally obliging numbers of cotton, linen, voile, chiffon, crepe de chine, georgette, taffeta and lovely clinging crepe materials, which have all the newest and most popular colour, Including all shades of blue, rose and mahogany, sky blue and bright red, navy and white, and other lovely colour combinations.

Suits for Spring. 'First of all in selection comes light ■suits, the ever sterling assets of early spring wear, in dusty pink, navy and white light woollen alpaca materials with which well-fitting coats and ■skirts are made. For their blouses and Jackets, plaid and tartan taffetas are ■frequently used.' Early spring frocks ■of light woollen materials also add ■taffeta for light relieving touches, such ■as bows, collars, and accessories. These fiocks with their capes, tiny boleros and other coats, with capelel ■and epaulet sleeves, straight skirts buttoning in front and leaving, short ■splits near the hem, are very distinctive and useful. Redingote ensembles, combining light frocks and coats of the same alpaca and woollen mixtures, have long frilly jabots, simple wide coat collars and other smart styles which have many enthusiastic adherents. ■

Gay and Beautiful Frocks. Tailored black net, plaid and tartan ■taffeta over-biouses which have flared or straight peplums, high necks with large saucy bows, or low square ones, and are nearly all daintily and frivolousy befrilled, are worn with smartly tailored skirls whose very sobriety seems to provoke the pert blouses to even more mirthful frivolity. (Many more gay frivolously beautiful frocks in chiffons aml crisp organdies presenting floral, leafy and fantastic designs are already launching the most bewildering beautiful number of styles whose dainty eloquent enchantment expresses much of the light-hearted, spontaneous joys of summer.
