MAY FLY TO NEW ZEALAND. SIR KINGSFORD SMITH DUBIOUS. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, April 21, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, in an Interview, said: “I may fly the Southern Sky tc New Zealand, but I do not think it would be very wise. The Southern Sky should only be flown across the Tasman if the shipping rates are too high.” Sir' Charles says he would be 'only too glad to enter the air race from London to Melbourne "if anybody gives me a nice plane.”
At an auction sale in Sydney this week of the property of the Australian National Airways (in a passenger aeroplane the Southern Sky, was purchased on behalf cf Mr H. M. Mackay, managing director of New Zealand Airways. The price was £2150. The machine is a tripleengined craft with accommodation for eight passengers.
