LATE MR. E. O. PRENDERQABT WAIKATO UNION'S TRIBUTE. An eloquent tribute to the services rendered to Rugby football In this dis- ; ■trlct by the late Mr. E. C. Prendergast was paid by Mr. W, Fraser, president of the Waikato Rugby Union, at the annual meeting in Hamilton last night. Mr. Fraser described the passing of Mr. Prendergast as a great loss to sport In the Waikato, and to Rugby football in particular. " While Mr. Prendergast was not actually an official of the union he did much to further the game In our district,” he said. “ Rugby in Hamilton had never had better reports than when they were written by him. He knew the game, and bis knowledge was reflected in bis comments on'the play, and players.” _ • A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. Prendergast was carried, the meeting standing.
