AN INCREASED OUTPUT

BIG COMPANY’S SEASON. RECORD PRODUCTION. •MORE FERTILISER PURCHASED. " It is extremely gratifying to once again report a substantial increase in our total output for the season, the final figures showing a record production ■of 47,473 tens compared with 46,74:: tons in the previous season,” comments the general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., (Mr C. J. Parlane) In his message to shareholders of the Company appearing in this month's issue of the the Exporter. “ The long spell of dry weather experienced during last summer had a marked effect on the output'ln certain areas and an analysis of the figures for individual factories is extremely interesting. It is noticeable that in those districts which were fortunate in obtaining frequent local showers through the summer, months, the percentage >of increase is most marked whereas jn ether districts, notwithstanding an increase in the number of suppliers, the factory output shows a lower percentage -of increase, thus clearly demonstrating tli effect of the prolonged dry spell on the butterfat supply from individual farms.

“ When these fluctuations in factory output are taken into consideration,” he continues, “it becomes clear that the increase over our whole territory Is due to the large increase In the number >of suppliers. The number of actual suppliers last year was considerably higher than the previous season, the total being close on the 9000 mark, and promises of new supply for the coming season lead us to confidently anticipate a further pronounced increase. “ It is pleasing to record that notwithstanding the difficult times through which we are passing, purchases of fertiliser through the company are considerably higher than last year, the quantity actually delivered to suppliers last season being 40,739 tons compared with 27,828 tons for the coresponding period last year,” Mr Parlane states. The individual qnantites of the various products were:—Butter, 33,419 tons; cheese, 7582 tons; casein, 723 tons; milkpowders, 5402 tons; condensed milk, 347 tons.
