It was decided at a meeting of the management committee of the Otago Rugby Union this evening to support the nomination of Mr F. T. Evans, of Canterbury, as manager of the team to tour Australia. No member of the Otago Union was available for appointment. morrinsville union. THE MARSHALL CUP. The result of the game at Morrinsville on Saturday, in which Terriers heat United by 8 points to 6, puts the three senior teams level for the ■Marshall Cup, each having one win, and a play-off will he necessary. For the winners on Saturday Anderson, Robson and O'Grady were the best backs. The last-named played a particularly good game. Stewart, Reynolds, Dewar and Welch were prominent in the pack. For United Cameron and Fraser, among the forwards, and Duncan, Roberts and Leeson all played well. MATAMATA V. HINUERA. In this game at Matamata the home team outclassed the newly-raised senior team In every department. The Carlson Bros. In the five-eighths positions did effective work and scored 20 out of the 29 points recorded by the winners. The scorers for Matamata were W. Carlson (i try, 2 conversions, a potted goal and a penalty goal), Don Carlson (2 tries), Story (2 tries), and Malligan (1 try). Death potted a goal for Ilinucra. Patetoro v. Wardvillo.
This game at Matamata provided a far more even game than the other senior fixture. Patetere won by 11 to 6 B. Inman (i try, i conversion and 1 penalty), and G. Brown (1 try) scored the points for the winners. Carseldine (a try) and Wilson (a penalty goal) put on the points for Wardville.
