WAIKATO HUNT.

QUALIFYING MEET. GOOD DAY AT BARDOWIE. The first qualifying meet of the Waikato Hunt season was held yesterday, when some twenty riders met at Mr James Taylor’s property, “Bardowie,” Cambridge. It was a good scenting day, and the sixteen couples of hounds were very keen. Two hares were put up, and both provided good runs, the first hare ultimately running out of the hunting country, and the second being lost inside the borough boundary. The master of the hunt was Mr Wynn Brown, and Mr Ned Brown was chief whip. The qualifying horses were Day Lak, Goodfellow, Val Simon, Nukutere and Just Nell. Interest in the hunt is again very keen, and the indications point to a successful season.

The next -qualifying meet will he held on Thursday, at Mr W. Newell’s farm at Tamaliere, and. the official opening of the season will take place on Saturday, May 14, at Fencourl, where the hunt will meet on Mr T. 11. Ross’ property.
