TWO MEN FINED. ' MAGISTRATE TRIES HIS SKILL. CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. After trying his skill at operating a machine in the Magistrate’s Court today, Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., ruled that it' "was a gaming machine, and convicted Trevor Charles -Watson and Enos Victor William Crouch of running a common gaming house. They were lined 10s each and costs. Chief-Detective Carroll, in explaining the system of running the machine, said discs were bought for 3d each. Every time one was inserted in the machine and a lever pulled a small packet of sweets came out. In addition, by the combination on three- revolving drums it was possible to re- : calve a number of discs which could be used again or changed for goods.
