Ensor, Called together a number of the principal ratepayers this morning to discuss the financial position of the borough in view of a visit of Mr Snell, of Wellington, representative of the Thames Borough bondholders. ' A meeting of the Finance Committee ’of the Borough Council was held this evening, Mr Snell attending to review ithe position and to discuss proposals. The meetings are of a preliminary nature, and the Mayor has no announcement to make concerning the proposals put forward, v The usual 10 per cent, penalty ac--torued on all Thames Borough rates after -March 30. A total of ■£13,885, or 53.9 per cent., has been 4 paid out., of collectable rates amounting to £25.747,
