The condition of Dame Kellie Melba is reported to be grave. Relatives and friends at her bedside include her son, Mr George Armstrong, his wife, and Mr John Lemmone, the famous flautist.

Acording to Dr. Lemmons, Dame Melba's illness is aparently the result of a germ which the Diva believed she caught in Cairo a year ago. German, French and English doctors were unable to diagnose the trouble, bid advised a sea trip. Ilence her visit to Australia where she desired to spend Christmas. Sho was unable to speak to her friends who visited her yesterday. Her only greeting was a smile.
