DALGETY AND COMPANY.
DIVIDEND OF 10 PER CENT. After providing for bad and doubtful debts, current expenses, depreciation, debenture interest and taxation, the annual report and balance-sheet of Dalgety and Company, Limited, for the year ended June 30 shows a net profit for the year of £235,900. . After adding the balance brought forvvard from last year and charging the 12 months’ dividend on the preference shares and the interim dividend on the ordinary shares paid last May, there remains at the credit of the general profit and loss account a balance of £363,800, which the directors recommend should be appropriated as follows: —£75,000 in payment of final dividend of 5s a share, making with the interim dividend 10 per cent., per annum; £25,000 to writing down cost of premises; and £25,000 to staff provident fund, leaving £238,000 to be carried forward. The interim dividend was reduced from 7 per cent, to 5 per cent, during the year. For a number of years up to 1930 the company paid a final dividend of 3 per cent, and a bonus of 7 per cent.
