CRICKET,

HAMILTON COMPETITIONS. MATCHES FOR TO-MORROW. INTERESTING PLAY LIKELY. The two senior A matches in the Hamilton Cricket competition will be continued on Seddon Park to-morrow where Hamilton are playing Old Boys on No 1 wicket and Hamilton East are meeting Frankton on No 2. In-the former match Hamilton compiled 139, to which Old Boys replied with 82 for six wickets. Smith and Buckland are the not out bastmen, with Gibbons, McDell and Horspool to follow. Although there is a possibility of the game being flninshed, the fight for the first innings lead will provide an exciting start for the afternoon, while if wickets fall fast, the closing stages should be very close. On their first innings’ showing, the Hamilton batsmen will be hard to dispose of, if they are out to maintain a winning position, but the Old Boys’ attack last week showed plenty of variety and sting, so that even if they do not overtake their opponents’ first innings total, they would still have plenty of interest in the game. The other match seems a sure win for Hamilton East, for they are in a position to declare their first innings dosed at any time. They already have 182 on for 7 wickets, as against Frankton’s 92, and they should have little difficulty in disposing of them at the second strike with ample time to get any more runs required. , Senior B Games. Owing to the default of Frankton to Railway, only three matches are being played in this grade, one at Ngariiawahia, one at Cambridge and the third on the High School ground. In the first the home side have a commanding lead over Hamilton East, who made 57 and 17 for 2 wickets in reply to Ngaruawahia’s 227. At Cambridge the scores were very low, the hoine team making 55 and 33 for 4 wickets, while United compiled 75 in their first innings. Old Boys made 51 and 46 for 4 wickets against High School whose first innings realised 222, so that there is little doubt about the result of this game. In the junior competition the second round matches will be played on various grounds to-morrow. Hamilton. Juniors.—F. Phillips (capt.), D. Crabbe, R. Livingstone, G. Hoult, R. Grainey, E. de Lacy, M.
