A CHARGE dismissed.

ACCIDENT IN BRIDGE STREET. HAMILTON MAGISTRATE’S, COURT. A -charge of negligently driving'his car in Bridge Street, preferred against Roland Paul Houghton, before Mr Wyvern'Wilson, S.M., in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court this morning, was dismissed. It was held by the prosecution that defendant had, on approaching the Traffic Bridge from the town side, knocked down a cyclist who was travelling on his correct side of the road on to the bridge. The cyclist was bruised and shaken. Defendant in evidence told the Court that he was proceeding round the corner approaching the bridge when he heard a clatter behind, which, he subsequently discovered, had been made by a cyclist crashing into the rear mud guard of his car. This evidence was corroborated by Mr J. R. Fow, a passenger in defendant’s car at the time. His Worship in dismissing the charge stated that he was of the opinion that the car had been slowing down when the cyclist coming from behind, hit the back bumper of the car.
